Platinum blonde: Kelly Osbourne was channelling the spirit of Marilyn Monroe with her new 50s-inspired hairstyle


She's become renowned as a modern-day fashion icon, but now it seems that Kelly Osbourne is taking inspiration from one of the Hollywood greats - Marilyn Monroe.

The 26-year-old appeared to be channelling the spirit of the Fifties film legend when she arrived for lunch at the Ivy in Los Angeles on Monday - sporting a Marilyn-inspired hairstyle.

And Kelly had teamed her soft blonde waves with an equally feminine outfit - wearing a layered, frilly nude dress, white jacket and matching heels.

And she completed the Monroe-inspired look with a splash of bright pink lipstick, giving the outfit a splash of colour.

Monroe, who starred in such classic movies as Some Like It Hot, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and The Misfits, was famous for her platinum blonde hair and glamorous looks.

She died in 1962 but has remained one of the most recognisable faces in film history.
Kelly - who has recently appeared as a fashion expert on the U.S TV show Fashion Police - was last week named as the new face of Madonna's clothing line Material Girl, replacing 17-year-old Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen.

'Material Girl is thrilled to confirm that Kelly Osbourne is the new face for 2011! We will be sharing all the details on this exciting new campaign in the upcoming weeks,' a spokeperson told Us Magazine.

The range, which is designed by Madonna and her 14-year-old daughter Lourdes, is aimed at teenage girls.

Osbourne was chosen after Lourdes revealed on the clothing line's blog in January that they were searching for a new face.

The star is also due to show off her acting skills with two films set for release in 2011.

She will appear in the romantic comedy Should've Been Romeo, and will also feature in the action comedy I'm Like Soooo Undercover alongside Miley Cyrus.
